West Chester Rally 7/12/2008

Our 45th rally and the Sheepdogs are going strong! I’m happy to report to you that Neocon has returned from his undisclosed training at WhiteLand. You can view the results of his training HERE. A photo anthology of the West Chester Rally can be found HERE.

The weather could not have been better for this rally, our Sheepdogs in high spirits and the kids having a fun as well. We gathered early for this rally, almost immediately we started getting honks and the thumbs up from passing cars. Passing pedestrians stopped to thank Rich for his work every Saturday; one woman simply picked up a sign and joined us. We are a growing force of good, decent, hard working Americans who are making time in their busy lives to stand in support of our troops.

Interested in joining us? We rally every Saturday at 11:00 am to 12 noon at the corner of High & Market Streets, West Chester, PA. You can read more about us at American Sheepdog

Supporting our troops – yeah – it feels this good:

Wrong Way Peace Movement

What is the “peace movement” doing wrong? My fellow contributor at Flopping Aces took the time to compile a list of shortcomes of the peace movement. His article nails the real agenda of the peace folk as a partisan political tool. I see this in action every weekend in West Chester.
  • It failed to prevent the war in Afghanistan.
  • It failed to prevent the war in Iraq.
  • It failed to change power in the executive branch.
  • It failed to end the war in Iraq.
  • It was duped by Democrats in 2006 who promised “A New Direction In Iraq” without ever having even formed a committee to brainstorm ideas until 2 months after being elected.
  • It failed to prevent The Surge offensive.
  • It failed to stop cannibals in the Congo [and was silent while 4-6million died as UN peacekeepers raped and sold children en masse].
  • It failed to stop the bloodshed in Darfur.
  • It speaks out against the efforts (war) of US forces to protect people from terror.
  • It speaks the same rhetoric as the enemy’s propaganda.
  • It is silent in response to terrorist attacks.
  • It is openly embraced by Islamic holy warriors.

I don’t know, but the fact remains that the Peace Movement seems more a partisan political tool and a carnival than a substantive and meaningful call for action. Perhaps someday it will succeed in bringing peace to a war torn nation rather than support those tearing it apart? Perhaps it would be more successful if it marched and took action against the terrorists?

One other note: Jules Crittenden weighs in on the importance of Iraq in the global war on terror:

Iraq has become the central battlefield in the 21st century’s Islamic war, and may have been destined to be, with or without us. Lying geographically, ideologically, and culturally athwart the Middle East, rich in resources and boiling with rage long before we got there, it is the place where the war will either be settled or truly begun. It is a fitting role for the cradle of civilization to host a war in which the very progress of civilization is being challenged.

And now for some South Park wisdom:

Somehow I don’t see the peace protesters agreeing with South Park…. Pity

West Chester Rally 07/05/2008

Group Photo by Sean.

You can view more of his remarkable work HERE. The magnificent NeoCon was not present at our rally as he was deployed to an undisclosed location this weekend.

It was good to stand on the corner in West Chester today. After the successful participation in TWO parades yesterday, the Sheepdogs were in high spirits. We also debuted our new banner boldly advertising our commitment and our support of the troops. We were happy to see Joe Dohety, who stood with us on Flag Day and returned to stand with us today. He brought his friend, Diane, who was proud to stand with the Sheepdogs in support of our troops.

As we embark upon our 11th month standing in support of our troops, there is tangible evidence revealing that our dedication and respectful rallies are making a difference. Letters from our troops keep pouring into Rich’s email letting him know how thankful and encouraged they are by seeing us stand up for them every week in West Chester. Our opposition takes a different tact – but they support the troops – don’t you know – and their email box remains empty.

Here is a quick picture spam from today’s rally. More photos of this rally can be found HERE

The patch featured above is sported by one of our Sheepdogs. Charlie shows up every week with a denim jacket covered in patches. Today, I took the time to ask about the meaning behind some of the patches. He pointed to the one pictured above and explained this was memorial patch to the 343 firemen that gave their lives on 9/11. The date is sewn upside down to indicate a distress call and the number “343″ is designed in a tree pattern to honor the fallen firemen. Remember, these are the people the left had labeled ‘little eichmanns’. Every Saturday in West Chester, a Sheepdog finds a way to honor and remember these firemen.

Interested in joining us? We stand in support of our troops every Saturday at the corner of High & Market Streets in West Chester, PA. The rally begins at 10:45 AM and ends promptly at Noon. Immediately following the rally, we adjourn to a local restaurant for good food, good conversation and good beer!

4th of July ~ Sheepdog Style

Today we, as Americans, celebrate 232 years of growth as a nation. Together we have celebrated the sweetness of hard won victory, weathered a bloody civil war, reaped the benefits of innovative leaps in technology and through public debate changed perceptions of cultural norms. All of our victories and all of our losses have been shared by Americans through the years, we are all part of the story of this nation. Unlike Michelle Obama, I am proud to be part of the unfolding story of this nation. Here is to another 232 years of growth.

My first act to celebrate the 4th of July was to purchase ice cream from the Twistee Treat ice cream and water ice store in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. The store is hard to miss as you can see in my cell phone photo above. The ice cream has never tasted sweeter than today. In addition to indulging in my chocolate ice cream addiction, I made a donation to the Injured Marine Semper Fi fund.

After indulging in the Dulce ice cream, I motored to Glenside to join my fellow Sheepdogs in the Independence Day Celebration & 105th Annual July 4th Parade. This is one of the largest, oldest and best-known parades in this region of the nation. The Chester County Victory Movement was honored to participate in this historic and patriotic parade in celebration of America. More photos from the parade can be found HERE

A Heros Welcome is always a welcome addition to our Sheepdog road trips. One of our members participated in the parade on two wheels – two very nice wheels! Warriors Watch had the honor to lead this year’s parade, and their phenomenal photographer, Shooter, captured the day in photos. The biggest thrill of all was to have the opportunity to spend some quality time with The Man – Wayne Lutz.

The Sheepdogs encountered cheers, clapping and shouts of encouragement from the crowd lining the sidewalk along the parade route. We were stunned by the outpouring of support from the parade attendees. The cheers continued from the begining to the end of the parade route – we felt like rock stars during the parade!

Along the route, we witnessed a father instructing his small children to stand up when our flags passed by. An elderly veteran slowly raised himself upright when he saw our flags passing by him. A couple of Sheepdogs took time to walk over to thank him for his service.

We had a wonderful time participating in this historic parade and look forward to next July 4th!

West Chester Rally 6-28-08

A sunny day greeted this merry band of patriots. We had an outstanding showing, with a new face from the Knights of Columbus. The flags and signs were greeted with numerous honks from passing cars. As we continue to stand on the corner of West Chester, the honking and thumbs up increases from the motorists. It is such a great response from the public, which thrills our supporters and annoys our detractors.

Ah, life is sweet in West Chester -thanks to all the Sheepdogs who steadfastly stand in support of our troops and our Nation.

Your very humble blogger, along with two brilliantly talented individuals, has crafted the video posted below. This video has been entered into the RNC Convention Video contest:

I love this sign – it puts everything in perspective:

With the Mehdi Army dissolving as I type this, can we take surrender off the table regarding the War on Terror?

This is an increasingly common sight in West Chester, Pa. A motorist thanking a Sheepdog for standing in support of our troops and America:

Another common occurrence in West Chester, Pa: Sarah Bones, an interloper from the other side:

For those who came late to the party: There’s an informal agreement that we Americans (Sheepdogs) will not mix with the “peace protesters” and they would not mix with us.

Well a “peace treaty’ is only as good as desire for peace on either side, their honesty in entering into such an agreement and their integrity in meeting their obligations under a peace agreement. Today Chester County Peace Movement, Veterans For Peace, Karen Porter and John Grant failed (yet again) to live up to both the spirit and letter of the agreement.

There is strong evidence that it was willful blindness rather than an honest mistake. The elderly woman with the tape recorder and professional looking camera was a CCPM ally. She’s Sarah Bones, an “Indy Media journalist”. Truth is that they are propagandists for the other side. To disarm people, they lie and say they don’t have a side in an issue they interview you about. They are as honest and truthful John Grant would be….if John Grant were ever honest and truthful.

Here’s two links, the first makes it clear she’s “Indy Media” and second link shows that the Philadelphia Indy media Center was one group that were sent Porter’s plea for reinforcements her planned Faux Flag Day. My suspicion is that Grant forwarded Porter’s email, either way it’s the same thing, CCPM=VFP and VFP=CCPM. Philly Indy Media is part of that side, not ours and certainly not neutral.

CCPM Attack Machine

The Director of the CCPM’s in-kind contribution to the Obama campaign - offering free labor from her membership list:

I am writing to this list, not wearing my CCPM hat, but as Team Leader for the Chester County (Region 3/Central Chester County) Obama Campaign. Those of us committed to Barack Obama (as I have been, totally, since 2004) know that he holds the key to a better future for our country and for the world. However, from time to time I might feel that I need to write to everyone on this list to give you an opportunity to be part of the effort that I see as our best hope for peace and justice in this world. If you want to be a volunteer in the Obama campaign, e-mail: _mccain at aol.com_ (mailto:mccain at aol.com) – and I will give your name/phone/address/e-mail/municipality/preference for volunteer activities if you have preferences (please provide all) to our Volunteer, Canvassing, Office, and Phonebanking Coordinators

Interesting, the director of the Chester County Peace Movement openly displays her alliance to the Democrat party, yet attempts to use an alleged connection to the Republican party to smear members of the Victory Movement:

CCPM – Sat Jun 14 21:38:14 EDT 2008

On one of them you will see clear ties of our little Saturday “pro-war” group’s alliance with the Republican Party. I have long maintained that their motive has absolutely nothing to do with “support the troops” or the crazy war . They have never shown once ounce of real concern about “our troops.” Their whole political raison d’ĂȘtre has EVERYTHING to do with the Republican Party. (when you “google me,” do a little “Where’s Waldo?” and see if you can find the photos of 2 of that group at a recent Republican meeting of some sort -

CCPM-Sun Jun 15 12:04:00 EDT 2008

We will shine as much light as possible w/out appearing obsessed with them (as they are with us) – just perhaps “Reports on the Militarists” or something like that – I think we can counter this group by making sure all our people know exactly who they are. Periodically, I can issue an e-mail about “what this group is up to” – esp. focusing on any politcal connections.

Pretty strong words, one could say attack words, from this Obama Team Leader. What she doesn’t “get” is that one of the two people she alludes to in the post above is a registered Democrat – see my sidebar profile.

In a letter to the Inquirer, our fearless ‘Obama Team Leader’ stokes the fires of racial division:

GOP attack machine

With regard to Barack Obama’s opting out of public campaign financing (Letters, June 23): Do those of you who criticize him not “get it” that Obama is the first African American candidate who not only will win, but who will inevitably be the constant target of the Republican attack machine, which will use racism in every way possible to defeat him? Do you not get that? He will be up against the strongest attacks against any presidential candidate in history and needs every resource at his fingertips. Just what is it that you don’t “get” about that?

Karen Porter
Team Leader
Chester County Obama Campaign
West Chester

We do ‘get it’, Karen. It is apparent that you will use every type of malicious attack and near libelous mis-characterization against anyone or organization that does not conform to your group-think mentality. ‘Militarists Reports’ – Is this a tactic picked up from the Obama Team Leader playbook, I wonder? What has been so elegantly illuminated with this letter and in your leadership of the CCPM is that you are a divider, not a peacemaker.

Raoul D. nails it:

In Letters June 25th, Obama Campaign Team Leader Karen Porter offers a defense of Barak Obama’s breaking his promise to turn his back on ‘Big Money’ in this election. Porter repeatedly offered her opinion that America is fundamentally racist. Does Barak know he has a divider, not a uniter, speaking for his campaign in Chester County?

Is it Saturday Yet?

I am so looking forward to spending quality time with two luminaries of the blogosphere this Saturday at the Flag Day Rally in West Chester, Pa.

Thus Spake Ortner – Ladies’ Man, Man’s Man, Man About Town – here he is emoting while dissecting IVAW’s philosophical viewpoint. Yowza!

Not to be out done by the debonaire TSO, Jonn Lilyea has become quite the hot commodity in the blogsphere – who wouldn’t wearing a hat like that!

Be still my beating heart :)

West Chester Rally 06/07/2008

LORDY, LORDY WE’VE REACHED 40!!!!!!!!!

Group shot by the multi-talented NeoCon – for more photos surf HERE and be prepared to be dazzled by his brilliance. Don’t forget: Flag Day – June 14th – Bring a Friend & Bring a Flag!

Man, it was a hot one, like seven inches from the midday sun – did someone cue Rob Thomas and Santana for this rally? Perhaps it was the sultry heat gracing our milestone 40th rally, but I quickly detected amongst my merry band a strong interest in the latest editon of the Wall Street Journal:

Everywhere I pointed my camera, there could be found a Sheepdog and a Wall Street Journal.

While the Sheepdogs were able to brilliantly multi-task on their corner in West Chester, the other side was busy breaking their own vigil rules:

[Peace] Peace Vigil Ground Rules – Updated June 2008

THE CHESTER COUNTY PEACE MOVEMENTPEACE VIGIL GROUND RULES FOR PEACEKEEPIING:

Please do not make signals/signs of any kind to counterprotestors.

Please – no signs about or in response to counterprotestors.

If you do not follow these rules during a vigil, volunteers trained in peacekeeping will request that you leave the vigil.
