Taylor Jones – Dear Photograph

Ava and Great Gram-mom

I’ve always believed a photograph can be a visual story. People take photos to capture a moment; preserving the story for years to come.

I stumbled upon a blog, dearphotograph.com created by Taylor Jones where he lined up old family photographs in modern settings and snapped a new photo – instantly bringing the past into the present. What powerful stories these merged photos tell; it reaffirmed by belief in visual storytelling of photographs. This new discovery made me fall more in love with photography.

It did not take long for this fascinating approach to photography to go viral. In response to the intense interest, Taylor has created a book - Dear Photograph – filled with amazing photos and stories submitted by readers.

Yes, you can get a Kindle version, due to be released on May 22nd.  Yes, I’ve ordered a Kindle version of Dear Photograph. I suggest you check out the blog and view the photos and associated stories, you will be inspired!

Skye Blurbs!

Two weeks ago I created a photo book of the recent RNC Convention using Blurb Booksmart Software. Yesterday, the book I created with this publishing software was delivered to my home.

The book was shipped in shrink wrap. A nice touch to protect the dust cover if you plan on giving the book as a gift.

The printing and page thickness turned out better than I had expected and it is comparable to several coffee table books in my possession. At 30 pages long, it took two weeks to put together using the Blurb software. The software is intuitive and easy to learn, and I look forward to creating more photobooks with this service. It gets two thumbs up!
