City Tavern Garden Party with Pat Toomey

The Independence Tea Hall Party Association outdid themselves this past Friday with their back to back events celebrating the 223 anniversary of the US Constitution.

First up was a ceremonial recommitting to the United States Constitution held right outside where the original document was signed at Independence Mall.  Actress Janine Turner was the guest speaker and the ceremony featured the We The People 9/17 essay contest winners from across this nation.  Unfortunately, my schedule did not allow me to attend this event. Talking to those who were there, it was described as a spectacular success.

This event was followed up by a Constitution Garden Party at the famous City Tavern Restaurant – the unofficial meeting place of the first continental congress.  What better place to celebrate the signing of the Constitution than at the same place the signers celebrated 223 years ago.  The future Senator of Pennsylvania, Pat Toomey was the guest of honor at this garden party. Other speakers included, NJ Congressional District 3 candidate, John Runyan, and PA Congressional District 17 candidate, Dave Argall

Toomey Surges past Sestak in Rasmussen and PPP Polling

Yowza! A percentage gap of 9% puts Toomey solidly in the lead 76 days from the November election.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters in Pennsylvania shows Republican Pat Toomey picking up 46% support, while his Democratic opponent Joe Sestak earns the vote from 37%. Five percent (5%) prefer a different candidate, and 12% are undecided.

Senator Toomey – it has a great ring to it, don’t you think?

Rasmussen has an interesting breakdown of voters in Pennsylvania regarding the Senate race:

Toomey is backed by 82% of Republican voters, while Sestak earns the vote from 66% of Democrats. Toomey holds a nearly two-to-one advantage among voters not affiliated with either major political party.

Translation – apathy is running amok among likely Sestak voters, while Toomey’s message continues to gain traction among Republican and unaffiliated voters.

Public Policy Polling (PPP) has released a statement regarding the senate race in Pennsylvania. The poll reflects Rasmussen’s numbers with Toomey pulling 45% of voters to Sestak’s 36%. While individual polling can be sketchy at times;  it is good to see two independent polls reflecting the same data. This may well point to a growing trend of support among likely voters for Toomey.

Predictably, the DSCC has rolled out its negative campaign ads against Toomey.  Apparently, negativity is the only item Dems are bringing to the table this election cycle.

Senator Toomey – I Will Never Tire of that Title – Surges past Sestak

The latest Rasmussen poll shows Toomey comfortably ahead of disgraced retired admiral, Joe Sestak.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Pennsylvania shows Toomey attracting 45% of the vote, while Sestak earns 39%. Six percent (6%) prefer another candidate in the race, and 11% are undecided. The June 29 survey shows the race has changed little since the beginning of the month.

This is the seventh Rasmussen Reports survey of the race in 2010, and a review of prior results highlights just how stable it’s been to date. Toomey’s support has stayed in a very narrow range of 42% to 47%.

Sestak’s support has showed more movement, ranging from a low of 36% to a high of 46%. However, most of that movement came as he surged to victory over Specter in the Democratic primary. Other than polling conducted just before and just after the primary election, the Democratic nominee’s support has remained between 36% and 38%.

Change is coming to Pennsylvania.

Specter Switch Anniversary – Toomey Style

It’s been a year since Arlen Specter switched party affiliations and officially became the 60th vote for the Democrats. (As if they couldn’t count on his vote as a Republican)

A good way to mark the occasion would be to donate to Pat Toomey’s Specter Switch Moneybomb

Toomey – Sestak Debate at LaSalle

From all accounts it was a great debate.

Alas, a family event prevented me from attending .  All is not lost, however, a rather intelligent and dashing friend of mine attended the debate and took careful notes which he graciously allowed me to share with you.

I present to my readers Dr Robert Sklaroff’s  insightful take on the Toomey/Sestak debate:

My contribution-to-the-cause was, as questioner #4, to request that Joe fore-swear support for the upcoming V.A.T.  After he restated his preferred talking-points, it was necessary for me to remind him of my focused-query; he then asserted he opposed this level of superimposed taxation.

I also reminded him and his staff of the contents of the appended handout [which I also supplied to the La Salle “Political Science” professor]; included therein is the still-pending request for documentation to support his claim [uttered a fortnight ago @ the Frankford-neighborhood (in lower NE-Philly) Baptist Church] that “Three of Four Medical Malpractice Suits have been found to be fraudulent.” That these quotations document empowerment of Sibelius to impose rationing, this is a concern that remains under-reported.

Many of Joe’s sound-bites were appealing, such as his intent to engage in “principled compromise, and never to compromise on principles.” He invited those in the year-old Tea Party Movement and the weeks-old Coffee-Klatch Groupings to meet together.

The claims/counter-claims regarding Pay-Go and Medicare-D cry for clarification. Regarding the former, it appeared that Pat elucidated a clear distinction between the postures of the candidates: when confronted with the prospect of approving a new program, Pat would mandate cuts elsewhere…while Joe would either cut OR raise taxes to ensure budget-neutrality. Regarding the latter, it appeared that Joe retreated a bit from his initial claim that Joe had supported expansion of Medicare Rx-benefits; apparently (if I heard this clearly), he claimed Pat had supported holding a vote on this bill and then had absented himself from the actual voting, only two hours hence.

It’s On! Toomey To Debate Sestak at LaSalle University

Mmmm….finally a debate!

Pennsylvania candidates for U.S. Senate Joe Sestak and Pat Toomey are scheduled to debate 7:30 p.m. Sunday at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, according to a news release.

The event, to be held in the second-floor ballroom at LaSalle Union, will be streamed live onlne at pcntv.com, the release says. The doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Newly minted Democrat, Arlen Specter, is not scheduled to participate in this debate.  Does this signal that Sestak is the heir apparent for the Democrat nomination?

Senator-To-Be Pat Toomey is in the Lead!

Via Rasmussen:

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Pennsylvania voters shows 48% would vote for Toomey if the election were held today. Just 36% would vote for Specter while four percent (4%) prefer a third option, and 12% are not sure.

Holy Cow!
