Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey Named to Super Committee

For the record, I so called his selection to this committee days ago.

Senator Pat Toomey responds to his selection to the committee:

“I am deeply honored for the opportunity to serve on this bipartisan committee and to be part of the important work we will be doing. In light of last week’s events, with the nation’s credit downgrade and the deep drop in the markets, it is all the more imperative that this committee do its job effectively and come up with a product that both tackles our debt crisis and can help revive our failing economy.

“Despite the difficulties ahead, I am committed to tackling this challenge and am hopeful that we can produce a proposal that seriously reduces our nation’s deficits and grows our economy. Throughout the debate over the debt ceiling, I stressed that we need a solution that achieves the dual goals of putting our government on a path toward a balance budget, and maximizing economic growth and enabling us to create the jobs we badly need. I remain committed to both of these vital goals.”

Senate Republican Leader, Mitch McConnell selected Toomey along with Senators Jon Kyl (R-AZ) and Rob Portman (R-OH) to the Super Committee.

House Speaker, John Boehner selected Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Dave Camp (R-MI), Fred Upton (R-MI)

The Day After

Photobucket

Attention Obama: The Krakon has been released!

For the past week, I’ve been running on adrenaline and tonight I’m able to relax in the knowledge that Pat Toomey is now Senator-elect Toomey. I congratulate the new Republican Congressmen-elect Jim Gerlach, Pat Meehan, Mike Fitpatrick and Lou Barletta. Congratulations also to the Republican Governor-elect Tom Corbett.  In addition, the Pennsylvania State House has now flipped into GOP control.

WOW.

It is an astounding change in the political landscape of Pennsylvania. However, this change did not occur overnight and can be attributed to the dedication of several grass root organizations working diligently to bring this political change to Pennsylvania.  Kudos to the Pennsylvania Conservative Council, The Independence Hall Tea Party Association, American Sheepdogs, and Chester County Patriots for their support in GOTV efforts in the counties surrounding Philadelphia. I’m sure in the all the counties of Pennsylvania, this same scenario was being played out. I believe this made the difference in Pat Toomey’s victory last night.

Okay, I’m really crashing now. Need sleep. Will continue this discussion in a later post.

PA Senate and Congressional Races Update

First off, I have to share a Flickr link from one heck of a politico, Sean Hackbarth. His screen capture offers a glimpse into the liberal mindset days before an epic election. Pure awesomeness, Sean.

Okay..now lets get to the races in Pennsylvania:

Pat Toomey vs Joe Sestak – This is such an interesting race to follow poll wise. RCP places this race in the ‘Toss Up’ category, yet Toomey leads in every poll listed save one. This is trending more to ‘Leans GOP’ with every poll released. Rasmussen is calling this race a toss-up, despite  Toomey consistently ahead of Sestak in the poll numbers. A recently released Morning Call/ Muhlenberg tracking poll sees a swing back in favor of both Toomey and Corbett.  Now is the time for Republicans, Conservatives, and Independents to double down and bring  Toomey and Corbett to victory next Tuesday.

PA CD-6 - Gerlach is crushing Trivedi with a 10 point polling advantage, yet RCP is calling this race ‘Leans GOP‘? I’d label it Congressman Gerlach’s race. Amazing how a ten point lead less than a week from election day doesn’t cut it for ‘Likely GOP’ in RCP world.

PA CD-7 - Pat Meehan vs Bryan Lentz remains in the ‘Leans GOP’ category with the latest polling by Franklin and Marshal giving Pat a solid 3 point lead over Lentz. Pat Meehan has great name recognition in CD7 and Lentz has skillfully surrounded himself with tons of negative publicity.  Now is the time to ramp up GOTV initiatives so that next Tuesday we can hand  Obama’s water carrier a pink slip.

PA CD-8 Mike Fitzpatrick vs moveon.org endorsed candidate Patrick Murphy, is till in the ‘Leans GOP’ category. The enthusiasm is all on Fitzpatrick’s side – last night I attended a  AFP phone bank marathon in  and had to wait a half hour to get access to a phone to start calling likely voters in the 8th congressional district. The place was jumping last night!

PA CD-11 Lou Barletta vs Paul Kanjorski has not moved from the ‘Leans GOP‘ category according to RCP. We need principled men like Barletta in Congress and it looks like we are going to start addressing Lou as Congressman Barletta.

PA CD-12 – Tim Burns vs Mark Critz. The race is going exactly as expected – a Toss Up.

PA CD-13 Dee Adcock vs the architect of Obamacare, Allyson Schwartz.  The race still ‘Leans DNC’ , this is one congressional district that is overdue for a clean out.

PA CD-17 Dave Argyll vs Tim Holden. RCP has this firmly in ‘Leans DEM’. Oh man this would make such a great ‘come from nowhere’ win for the GOP. Argyll is a great guy, I would like him to do well in this race.

PA Governors Race: Corbett vs Onorato is still in the ‘leans GOP‘ RCP category. No surprises here.

Looking at the polling, I’m gunning for  ’The Great Refudiation‘ come November 2nd.

Any Questions? Leave a comment or follow me on Twitter for more updates on these races. Oh, please take a moment to surf over to Ace of Spades, it seems my buddy Ace is having election night jitters and needs some cheering up.

Toomey vs Sestak Debate Update

Sestak made a very good mop for Pat Toomey during tonight’s debate in Philly’s Constitution Center. It seems the debate confirmed my suspicion that Joe Sestak is a casualty of truth.

Toomey supporters with a liberal sprinkling of Sestak groupies held an impromptu rally outside the Constitution Center. As with any rally with with liberals and conservatives intermixed, there is always the instance when a conservative woman is threatened with bodily harm by a liberal leaning Sestak supporter. It was no different tonight.  With Sestak tanking in the polls, and in his home base of Philly only few show to support him at this debate/rally, the desperation of liberals is palpable.

P1050480

Speaking of polls, it seems a mysterious poll – Muhlenberg College/Morning Poll reports a dramatic swing in the Toomey/Sestak race with Sestak outpacing Toomey by 3 points. An interesting poll indeed, when I dug into the data, I came across this piece of internal data:

Q27: What county do you currently reside in? October 2010
38% Southeast area
22% Southwest area
40% Other Areas of the State

60 percent of those surveyed reside in the southeast and southwest areas of the state, the same area where the Dems believe a big turnout for Sestak will hand him this Senate seat. At least that is what Democrat ward leaders were telling the troops at a recent Sestak Rally in Philly:

Video will be posted tonight

Interesting sample areas, a tad bit too coincidental for my tastes, but then I think this poll is bogus anyway. Let’s wait and see if Rasmussen comes up with another poll for this race.

PA Senate and Congressional Race Update

Below are the races I’m following and/or supporting in Pennsylvania this election cycle. I’ve included my thoughts on each of these races. Feel free to agree or disagree and let me know your thoughts in the comment section.

U.S. Senate: Pat Toomey vs Joe Sestak

Rasmussen had placed the PA Senate race in the Solid GOP‘ category after the latest polling results of likely voters showing Pat Toomey out pacing  Joe Sestak with a 10 point lead.

Pat Toomey has stated that regardless of the poll numbers he will run the race as if he is 10 points behind his competitor. He is in a good place right now, but the race is not over yet. Now is the time for my readers and lurkers to support the GOTV for Pat Toomey. Let’s not let up the pressure until the polls close on November 2nd.

Pennsylvania Congressional Races of Interest:

PA CD-4 Keith Rothfus (R) vs Jason Altmire (D)

Real Clear Politics (RCP) ranking has kept this race in the ‘Lean Dem‘ category. Altimire gained notoriety for being given a pass to vote against Obamacare simply because his vote wasn’t needed to pass this debacle. One can only hope the voters in CD4 can see what a political hack Altmire really is and vote for Keith Rothfus. Sadly, it is clear Altmire will NOT vote for any repeal of Obamacare.

PA CD-6 Jim Gerlach (R) vs Manan Trivedi

RCP ranking places this race in the Leans GOP category. Not surprising at all.  The momentum is with Gerlach and Trevedi is a really weak competitor.  I don’t foresee an upset in this congressional district.

PA CD-7 Pat Meehan (R) vs Bryan Lentz (D)

RCP ranking places this race in the Leans GOP category. Pat Meehan has great name recognition in this district and is running a great campaign. The Lentz campaign senses this and wasted no time fielding a third party candidate to draw votes away from Meehan.  The most recent Franklin and Marshall poll on October 11th, had Meehan up by 3 points. My money is with Pat on this race.

PA-CD-8 Mike Fitzpatrick (R) vs Pat Murphy (D)

RCP ranking places this race in the Leans GOP‘ category,a move up from the ‘Toss Up’ category.  Mike Fitzpatrick is a solid candidate in this race. His opponent a moveon.org sponsored candidate is simply a rubber stamp for the liberal wing of the Democrat party.  His constituents have caught on to his misrepresentation in Congress and it is no wonder that Pat runs from meetings with them. This is a race we need to win, help Mike Fitzpatrick hand Pat his pink slip on November 2nd.  More info on Murphy can be found on the website Pat Murphy Watch

PA-CD-11 Lou Barletta (R) vs Paul Kanjorski (D)

RCP ranking on this race is “Leans GOP“. Excellent! Lou Barletta splashed on to the national scene as the mayor of Hazelton, Pennsylvania who actually attempted to enforce immigration laws. Wow! He was lucky the administration didn’t direct the DOJ to sue him. Oh, wait this was pre Age of Obama. We need a guy like this in Congress. Let’s help Lou give Kanjorski a spectacular retirement party.

PA-CD-12 Tim Burns (R) vs Mark Crist (D).

RCP places this race in the Toss Up” category. No kidding – the Republicans ran a poor candidate and overlooked the man for the job – Bill Russell.

PA-CD-13 Dee Adcock (R) vs Allyson Schwartz (D)

RCP rankings place this race as ‘Likely Dem‘. The democrat candidate is formidable, but not unbeatable. The GOP has to do better in recruiting candidates in this district. This is my home district – hence the bolding – and if we don’t unseat Allyson this time around, we have two years to find a better candidate. In the meantime the website Not Allyson Schwartz will continue to expose the hypocrisy of Allyson.

PA-CD-17 Dave Argyll (R) vs Tim Holden (D)

RCP places this race in the Leans Dem” column.  You might want to surf on to Dave Argyll’s campaign website to find out what you can do to get Dave’s message out to likely voters in the 17th CD.

State Representative Race

PA House 155 – Curt Schroder (R) vs Barbara Bergeron (D)

It has been 10 years since Curt Schroder has faced a democrat opponent for his Pa House seat. With the national political headwinds blowing against the Democrats, I was surprised to find that a consultant would run on the Dem ticket against Curt Schroder. Curt has a long standing history of placing the needs of his constituency above those of lobbyists and party politics.  During his 16 years representing Pennsylvania’s 155th district, he has worked to build a strong network of bipartisan support for his initiatives. His opponent is a consultant – here today, gone tomorrow. I look forward to Curt continuing his role in representing the needs of his constituents in the 155th district.

Pa Governor Race:

Corbett/Cawley (R) vs Onorato/Conklin (D)

RCP places this race in the Leans GOP‘ column. Rasmussen places Corbett in the driver’s seat with a commanding 14 point lead with likely voters over his opponent Dan Onorato.  Can I be the first to congratulate Governor Corbett?

I hope you found this PA 2010 election guide useful. Feel free to jump in and help out our GOP candidates, especially those in the ‘Leans Dem’ category.

What Happens When You Hold A Rally and No One Shows?

Well, you could say that happened this weekend with Democrat Senate Candidate Joe Sestak’s Health Care Rally held at Independence Mall in Philly. In the heart of blue Philadelphia, a natural base for Sestak, only dozens showed up for the Sestak Rally.  I had the pleasure of witnessing this pathetic rally this past Sunday.

Toomesday Update – Good News for Pennsylvania!

Pat Toomey Speaks to Voters

Rasmussen describes Pat Toomey as ‘inching closer to the 50% mark this month, in his best showing yet in Pennsylvania’s Senate race‘.  Among likely voters polled on September 13th, Pat Toomey earned 49%  of their support, while the disgraced retired admiral,  Joe Sestak, garners 41% of the vote. In addition,2%  prefer another candidate  and 8% remain undecided.

Toomesday is coming to Pennsylvania.  Pat Toomey brings common sense solutions to our complex national issues.  He shares our common values of hard work and self reliance, values sorely lacking in Congress these days.
