The governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, has been convicted of abuse of power in an impeachment trial at which he was accused of trying to sell Barack Obama’s empty Senate seat to the highest bidder.
Mr Blagojevich, a former Democratic ally of Mr Obama, is the first US Governor to be removed from office in 21 years.
Marathon Pundit is overjoyed….I think. Lt. Governor Pat Quinn has been elevated to full Governor this afternoon. For a moment, I was worried that Chelsea Clinton or Caroline Schlossberg would have started a whining campaign for the seat.
