The series is complete, the roller coaster ride has finally come to a complete stop. It was a great run with an almost perfect ending.
So Say We All.
Interesting to note is that my mitochondrial genetic markers place my ancestors leaving East Africa 15,000 to 20,000 years ago. In case you are wondering, my mitochondrial genetic code places me in the H haplotype group.
Am I part Cylon??
I’ve been reviewing the reactions of my favorite BSG fan sites today and gathered an overall opinion that the series finale was satisfying, except for the lazy ending Ron Moore wrote for Starbuck. I quite agree, as she was the most complex and compelling character on the show. The character was given no consideration at the end, she just dissapeared from the story line. Right after the show ended, I had to run to my movie collection to pull out an old title that reminded me of what Starbuck was to the Adama family – a guardian angel. The movie is called Fiorille, which won the Palm D’Or in 1993. For Alias fans, it is an early starring role for Michael Vartan, who plays Jean, the starcrossed and doomed French soldier. The spirit of this soldier haunts the decendants of the family that had him murdered, silently appearing when they are in most need of guidance. Just like Kara, although she is definitely not the silent type.
I am hoping that Starbuck as ‘guardian angel’ is the angle Ron Moore was going after with this finale.

Can all the world’s problems be solved by watching Sci Fi Channel? The United Nations apparently thinks that’s a good place to start, and will host a Battlestar Galactica retrospective and panel discussion on Tuesday to shed light on how the Emmy-winning show has handled such issues as human rights and reconciliation, terrorism, faith, children and warfare, and dialogue among civilizations.
Seriously, they should be made to watch the original series where a be-caped Adama handed down the law for the rag tag fleet. There were no quorums, no civilian president, or those damn reporters for that matter. It made for a better show, in my opinion.

Still waiting for the full episode of “Someone to Watch Over Me” to be posted on Sci Fi Rewind. Missed the episode were Kara still is befuddled by her identity and Hera draws star maps based on Bob Dylan songs.
This week’s episode “Islanded In A Stream of Stars”. Yes, that is the correct spelling of the title.
The synopsis….Galactica is a crack away from an irreparable hull breach. Laura Roslin is still dying and Kara still has no idea who she is. Typical day in the life of the rag tag fleet.
Check out Jamie Bamber’s new PETA ad. Yowza! Not sure if this is the same organization as PETA (People Enjoying Tasty Animals).
I’ll be in my bunk….If I had a bunk.

Ellen is faced with a decision that could have repercussions for humans and the future of the entire Cylon race.
Here we go again with the major decision that will split the fleet….again. I know liberal writers tend to be compulsive greeniacs, but for fraks sake, how many trees did they save by recycling BSG plot points?
Will Anders regain his memories or will his program be reset – All this has happened before and will happen again..
Is Daniel Kara’s dad? Or is Daniel really Zak Adama? The final two episodes list the character of Zak Adama in their credits. Hmmmm….
Attention spoiler-phobes, I am a spoiler junkie. I would avoid the comment section if I were you.

While aboard the Cylon baseship, Anders’ condition releases a flood of visions and crucial memories.
I’ll be happy to read your thoughts on this episode. Two views of this episode and I’m still fuzzy on the whole history of the Final Five. Who precisely is Daniel? Why is this related to Zak Adama?

Well, ladies and gents, the day has finally arrived! The premier of the final season of Battlestar Galactica. Which has the distinct honor of being the only 4 season television show to run for 6 years.
The top question buzzing around the fan sites is the identity of the fifth and Final Cylon, which will be revealed at some point during this final season. Four of the five cylons have been revealed in Season 4.0, leaving fans speculating for nearly a year over the identity of the final cylon.
My own picks for this honor would be:
Gaeta: His character always came across as a darkhorse, always in the background and in close contact with the power players. He also was very good at hiding secrets, such as his sexuality.
Dee: Another character who found ways to connect personally and professionally with the leaders of the decimated human race. She also is the only lead female character that has not been killed, threatened with death or returned from the dead.
Zarek: A terrorist turned vice president – how Iranian. His political and underworld connections put him in contact with the leadership of the military and civilian fleet.
Barak Obama: A community organizer with close ties to a domestic terrorist and a racist religious leader manages to be elected leader of the most powerful nation on the planet. Besides the writers and actors all adore BO and voted for him, even the Canadian actors. Nothing is impossible in the realm of science fiction or presidential elections, it seems.
Last but not least:
Romo Lampkin: He is a civilian lawyer that appeared out of nowhere to defend Gauis Balter against the charge of genocide. He is highly manipulative of Lee Adama and is very cryptic about his former life. There is almost something supernatural about him and his damn cat.
I chose these individuals because of their connection to the leadership of the ragtag fleet. During the reveal episode of the 4 cylons, the writers made a point to connect each one of the 4 identified cylons to an individual of power in the colonial fleet. This is a trait the final cylon would have to have in order to hide in plain sight.
I don’t believe Kara is the final cylon. There are indications that her character dies , for real this time, in this final season. Roslin or Bill Adama would be way to obvious. Speculation around the blogsphere claims that those pictured at the ‘final supper’ are not the final cylon.
What say you? Who do you believe is the final cylon? Check out the clues at SciFi.com

For all my fellow BSG addicts who are impatiently waiting for the final episodes of BSG, you can scratch that itch at the San Diego Comic Con 2008. BSG, the only 4 season sci-fi show that is taking six years to air, has several writers and cast members appearing at this Con.
Galatica Sitrep is leading the coverage of this convention, which includes a link to a flickr photo stream where I may have discovered what TSO and Lilyea have been up to this weekend:
The massive Saturn V rocket lifted off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center with astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin at 9:32 a.m. EDT. Four days later, on July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the Moon’s surface while Collins orbited overhead in the Command Module. Armstrong and Aldrin gathered samples of lunar material and deployed scientific experiments that transmitted data about the lunar environment. Text and Photo credit: NASA

Ron Moore made a cryptic statement a few weeks ago when he observed that the final cylon was not pictured in the famous ‘BSG Last Supper’ photo shoot. Hmmm, Laura Roslin was present at this ‘supper’, but Dee, Zarek and Gaeta were absent.
My money is on Dee – she is the only strong female character who has not been killed off the show.
Zarek, the terrorist turned VP? Sounds a lot like the Prez of Iran. Nah, it would be too easy for this cretin to be the final cylon.
Gaeta, is a close second to Dee, in whom I believe is the final Cylon.
So, how many believe the last scene of the mid season cliff hanger was meant to be the remains the Brooklyn Bridge and NYC?
When in 2009 do you suppose the final episodes of this series will debut? It is the only 4 season series that played out over 6 years. Quite an accomplishment.

Sine Qua Non – aka – “One Eyed Tigh and Peg Leg Gaeta“. The BSGcast of Matt and Nat discuss this episode. I have to say I agree with Nat’s assessment of this episode. Also, whatever happened to Kara “I’ve been to Earth, I’ve smelled it, tasted it” Thrace. Is the thrill of Earth gone for her?
