Heartbroken…

Misery

My thoughts are with the families and the children of Sandy Hook Elementary School.

I’m at a point where I can’t find words to adequately express this bone deep evil act of violence.  All I can offer is a quote from an article written by Matt Chambers were he asks where is God when 20 children die.

Yet, here we are…asking…begging for answers, and somehow still know that the answers we’re begging for probably won’t ever come. Besides, even if someone was able to provide an explanation of some sort, would it really help? I’m convinced explanations don’t magically end grief, or bring back people we love who have been taken away far earlier than we ever would have imagined.

At this point, I’ve no glib answer just an awful knot in my stomach tonight.

“Satan, on the contrary, is thin, ascetic and a fanatical devotee of logic. He reads Machiavelli, Ignatius of Loyola, Marx and Hegel; he is cold and unmerciful to mankind … He is damned always to do that which is most repugnant to him: to become a slaughterer, in order to abolish slaughtering, –Arthur Koestler, Darkness at Noon

    Matthew 18:6
6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

    Matthew 19:14
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

God, please take these children, and those heroic teachers who protected them, into Your Arms.

I have a 5 year old daughter, Heather. I also have an autistic son. So this hits close for me.

…that is the question always asked in times such as these. How could God let this happen?

The answer is that evil and sin are not Gods plan…the cause of all that is bad in the world is man turning away from Gods plan.

I’m reminded of a teeshirt I saw….question to God on the upper part of the shirt…

“God why do you allow such bad things to happen to children in school”

    answer from God…

    “I’m not allowed in schools”

and if God really wanted to slap back He might add….”why are you making such a big deal over 20 dead children? You have killed over 50 million of my children since abortion became the law of the land…why is this any different from that horror”?
