2012 Donor Dash Philadelphia Recap
Philadelphia 2012 Donor Dash 10K thoughts:
Unseasonably hot day, starting off with rain, clearing before the start of the race. I had no expectation of pace for this race other than a solid 10K run. Felt very zen-like waiting for run to commence. This was a very familiar course and a distance I’m comfortable running.
As like last year, the organizers did a great job with stocking the route with volunteers and water stations. I made sure to thank a volunteer or two as I ran past. They really are a necessary component of a good race. A good day to run for Organ and Tissue donor awareness.
Reviewing my results reveal a vast improvement over last year. I have officially PR’s this run. I felt comfortable with this pace and could have pushed a faster pace. This run gives me a boost of confidence that my training is working and my goal of a 9:15 to 9:30 pace for Broad Street is well within my reach.
Drum roll please…..my time and pace from the 2012 Donor Dash:
By training I mean three days of fitness bootcamp (cross-training) and 2-3 days of running. The fitness bootcamp includes speed sprints which I believe are instrumental in my improved running pace.
