Friday Night Bites
Birthday weekend is upon me Needless to say, blogging will be quite light over the weekend. Help me celebrate my birthday by donating to Wounded Warrior Project.
Pueblo Ingles is celebrating its 1oth Anniversary by declaring English as the official language of Planet Earth. Kicking it up a notch, they are collecting messages (english only) to be included in an upcoming satellite launch in hopes of spreading the english language to our alien overlords…errr…friends. sOne lucky message will win round trip airline tickets and a week at one of the Pueblo Ingles venues.
Donald Douglas reports on a high school teacher suspended for FaceBook comments regarding the recently passed legislation allowing gay couples to marry in New York state. The fainting class wants his head, but I suspect he will be reinstated. A few months ago a teacher in Bucks County posted scathing criticisms of the her students on her personal blog. She was suspended then re-instated to her job as an English teacher.
Marathon Pundit captures a spectacular shot of a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly while on a run through Mortons Grove. In other news, AFL-CIO announced it is still BFF with Obama — you know this is a friendship with benefits. Locally, three leading Republican city council candidates have garnered endorsements as well: David Oh -Philadelphia AFL-CIO, Denny O’Brien - Philadelphia AFL-CIO, AFSCME DC 47, and Joseph McColgan- Philadelphia AFL-CIO. I can imagine what promises were exchanged by the candidates for this endorsement.
In related news, Ohio businessman shot for being non-union.
Oh happy day! Kate + 8 has been cancelled…finally. Maybe she could relocate herself and her brood to Alaska. Speaking of embarrassing Pennsylvanians, Craig Cristy, 47 and his son Shawn Cristy, 19 of McAdoo, Pennsylvania were arrested by the FBI for stalking Sarah Palin’s family. Previously, Shawn Cristy mailed Palin a recipt of a gun he purchased. Awesome, a Jared Loughner wanna be. Liberals need to turn down the hate before a conservative women is shot.
I respect Erick Erickson’s work as a conservative crusader, but I have to side with one of the sweetest bloggers in the blogosphere – Dan Riehl. I see much promise in Michelle Bachmann and look forward to see how she performs against Romney and Perry who are both formidable candidates. It is way too early to throw support behind one candidate and I am reserving my choice until next year.
Kudos to Big Journalism Larry O’Connor for driving a retraction from Ed Schultz regarding MSNBC’s deliberate editing and misrepresentation of Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry’s recent statement. The most amusing aspect of this story is Tommy Christopher yet again jumped to the racecard before having his ass handed to him.
