The NHS Becomes More ‘American’

The British government is proposing to decentralize the NHS (National Health Service) into a  health system that is more physician and patient driven; while Obamacare is determined to drag America into the dark ages of medicine.

Practical details of the plan are still sketchy. But its aim is clear: to shift control of England’s $160 billion annual health budget from a centralized bureaucracy to doctors at the local level. Under the plan, $100 billion to $125 billion a year would be meted out to general practitioners, who would use the money to buy services from hospitals and other health care providers.

The plan would also shrink the bureaucratic apparatus, in keeping with the government’s goal to effect $30 billion in “efficiency savings” in the health budget by 2014 and to reduce administrative costs by 45 percent.

Well, the good news is that if these reforms do go through within the NHS, Americans will have a place to go for treatment when Obamacare fails them.

Poll: 60% of Pennsylvania Voters Reject Oil and Natural Gas Tax

Washington, July 21 – Six in 10 Pennsylvania voters oppose higher taxes on America’s oil and natural gas industry, according to a new 10-state poll released today. The poll – which was conducted by telephone by Harris Interactive on behalf of the American Petroleum Institute between July 15 and July 18, 2010, among 600 Pennsylvania registered voters – found that 60 percent oppose an increase, including 42 percent who strongly oppose. Only 30 percent support increasing taxes.

And everyone of them is a racist, bitter, gun toting, bible thumping redneck, right?  Or perhaps they are decent, hard working Pennsylvanians tired of the rhetoric; tired of subsidizing Harrisburg and DC’s spending sprees with their hard earned money; tired of being labeled ‘racist‘ or a nazi every time they question the leadership in DC.

These proposed taxes would only serve to raise the cost of energy for all consumers.  One of the proposed taxes, a severance tax, would be disastrous for Pennsylvania. The video under the fold explains what impact this tax would have on Pennsylvania:

Philly Politics 101

As a freshman Republican Committeewoman, I’ve had time to more closely observe the behavior of local Philly politics.  What I’ve found is a quagmire with two parties wrangling for the soul of Philadelphia.

iPhone 4 Review

It’s been two weeks since I received the Apple iPhone 4. FYI – It runs on the 3G network, not the 4G as some reviews have entitled it. It would have been better on 4G, but that is a different discussion. With this review, I am focusing on my experience with this new iPhone. I found a lot of good with the phone a little bad as well.

In summary – nothing is perfect.

Girls of Summer – 1999

Great article in the Evening Bulletin reminding us the beauty of the American spirit, even if it is played out in the game of soccer or ‘futbol’:

In 1999, the girls of summer captivated us with their pure love of the game, their grit, and their girl-next-door good looks. We adored that they were just a bunch of soccer moms who carried diaper bags and painted their nails in between games. They chased a dream for three weeks and we loved the fairy-tale ending, culminating with Brandi Chastain’s do-or-die penalty kick that broke a 4-4 tie and her post-goal shirt removing antics that ignited the Rose Bowl and America. 90,000 U.S. soccer fans created a rolling sea of red, white, and blue in the Rose Bowl and, at least for that moment, America loved soccer because it wasn’t “futbol.”

This is who we are, this is what makes America great. Achievements, big or small, that bring all of us together under a rolling sea of red, white and blue irregardless of our skin color. In this era of heightened political jockeying, we need more moments to unite us as one nation and less that divide us by skin color.

Thanks for the reminder Jane, it is sorely needed today.

Philly Democrats Reward Racism

Apparently, using the race card is the fast track to political success in Philly’s Democrat Party.

Philly’s disgraced City Council staffer, Latrice Bryant, is testing the waters for a potential run for Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller’s 8th district seat come 2011.

Latrice Bryant’s most notable accomplishment was to invoke the race card when confronted with evidence of falsified time sheets and an inappropriate physical relationship with her boss, City Councilman Wilson Goode, Jr back in 2008.

A local Fox News journalist, Jeff Cole, uncovered the evidence and confronted both Latrice and her confident, Councilman Wilson Goode, Jr. Her reaction was to literally flip him the race card:

Call Congress! Say YES To Coburn’s Amendment No. 4331

Time is of the essence – call your Senators today and tomorrow through the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121.

Dr. Coburn has filed Amendment 4331 to H.R. 4213, the Tax Extenders Bill, that provides ways to pay for extenders with savings along with striking the tax increases included in the bill. The total savings proposed in this amendment is over $126 billion.

This section of the amendment should be forwarded to every registered voter:

SEC. __20. STRIKE TAX INCREASESReduces new tax increases by $47.5 billion

$8 billion ten year savings

$10 billion ten year savings

When was the last time you saw a politician write any type of amendment calling for a REDUCTION of taxes?

You can read the amendment at this LINK. You know the Dems haven’t read it, but they will certainly vote ‘NO’ on it.  Here is the LINK to a section by section summary of the amendment.

American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010 may be voted on as early as Thursday! Now is the time to call and tell your Senator to vote YES on this amendment.

I Heart NOLA

New Orleans 2010

Had too good of a time in New Orleans, it took me a few more days than I anticipated to get back to the blogs.

I’ve put together a set of photos and videos on Flickr for your perusal. Some of the photos I simply have no explanation for, so please don’t ask.

I will be emailing a photo to a certain Wall Street Journal employee. I hope to hear back from him and will post the response and the photo here.
