The Steve Welch Shellgame

Steve Welch, Republican candidate for the 7th Congressional District, told supporters in a recent letter he had raised more than $250,000 since announcing his candidacy in early July.
I know you thinking I’m mistaken about the 6th district, because the Delco Times piece mentions Welsh as a candidate in the 7th district. For those new to the story, Steve Welsh resides in the 7th district and begun a campaign to run in the 7th until the GOP powers that be told him he must run for the 6th district Congressional seat.
Now that I exposed that bit of confusion regarding Steve Welsh and his quest for a congressional seat, let us take a closer look at his boast about raising $250,000 recently.
Steve claims to have RAISED $250,000 in mid-August. Actually he raised $18,450 not counting his own money. The records also do not indicate that he gave any money back to people after switching races. He was basically lying to his own supporters and I don’t know how he thought he wasn’t going to get caught!
In contrast to the Steve’s Shell Game, Curt Schroder’s donors reveal a deep loyalty from constituents in the 6th district. Curt raised $108,600.71 from 145 reported contributors. People who have were not reported (<$200) account for roughly $15k of that total.
Subtracting Welch’s own money his campaign raised $46,150 from 40 reported contributors. That means the “hundreds” of other individual donors, he claims to have, (<$200) contributed a grand total of $7,080.
All total 8.25% of his $559,143.32 in receipts came from individuals other than himself.
Here is a bombshell: $21,000 came from out of state. Meaning at least 47% of his individual contributions came from out of state.
Hello Voters! Who is driving this candidate? The constituents of the 6th district or out of state donors? This is a pattern that I’ve seen from Democrat candidates in 2008. Rep Patrick Murphy and Allyson Schwartz had half of their campaign funding from out of state donors. We can safely say they have been expensive failures for their constituents. The most damning number is that he reported no more than 7 contributors that were actually from the district. In roughly a month he couldn’t find more than 7 people who lived in the 6th district to invest $200 or more in his campaign!
Perhaps this is the most telling piece information, and it would lead one to believe Steve might find more than 7 donors in his home district – the 7th.

that’s kind of embarrassing, this is a number that he’ll have to explain or stick a fork in him he’s done.
If you want your guy to rake in the big bucks you should get him to shout “YOU LIE” at Obama. My man Joe Wilson (R-SC) took in $2.7 million.

Those who know him or have talked with him will learn that he is wealthy. Seems he wants to go the Corzine route and buy his way into congress with his own money.
Curt Schroder is the best candidate for the 6th district. He is a people-person, he knows the issues and is able to articulate the problem and ways to overcome them. He’s running on a platform of lower taxes, smaller government, strong national defense, energy common sense including drilling for oil off shore, he’ll vote against bailouts, earmarks, and government takeovers of banks, companies, and healthcare.
Schroder is running because he loves his country. I feel like Welch is running because he loves himself.
We need to spread this around.
