Space shuttle Endeavour and its seven astronauts safely returned to Earth on Sunday, taking a detour to sunny California after storms hit the main landing strip in Florida.
Endeavour touched down at 4:25 p.m. EST, wrapping up a 16-day trip that left the international space station freshly remodeled and capable of housing bigger crews.
The space shuttle Endeavour was commanded by a northeast Philly native, Christopher Ferguson.
The ShoZu website has a more precise definition :
Shozu means you can share the moment, be it photos or video or a blog. You can send your stuff to friends and family, email or social networks as simply as pressing the button.
ShoZu and I first met when I purchased the 3G iphone. With the purchase of this phone, I lost the ability to send photos and text directly to my blog and Flickr account from my phone. With all the flash and glamour surrounding the iphone, I figured it was a small price to pay for this wonder of modern technology. Humph, you really don’t comprehend the value of a blogging widget until you no longer have use of it.
Desperately missing the ability to mobile blog, I started poking around the Apps Store on the i-phone and found a free and uniquely named application with a description that fit my mobile blogging needs.
This easy to use application has far more capabilities than just a photo up loader, I quickly added a Flickr up loader, a Twitter feed, and my Blogger account. With the ShoZu application, I can Twitter, monitor replies from Twitter followers, upload photos to Flickr including photo tags, descriptions and geotagging. Combining ShoZu with the G3 network, I am now freed from my laptop or desktop in order to blog. All of this from one i-phone application!
Little did I know how huge an impact these features would have on my coverage as a credentialed blogger at the 2008 RNC Convention. Credentialed bloggers at the RNC convention were treated as main stream media, and were expected to fork out between $850 – $52,000 dollars for 4 days of internet access at the Xcel Center. That’s a lot of clams! With the G3 network and ShoZu, I was able to work around this expense and blog from the Xcel center. Sitting in the Xcel Center as Gov. Sarah Palin gave her historic and groundbreaking speech, I was twittering my impressions using ShoZu’s platform. During the four days of the convention, I posted many photos from events in and around the Xcel Energy Center on to Flickr using ShoZu. Without this application, It would have been difficult to get timely stories and photos out to my readers and lurkers on MidnightBlue.
This iphone application is a must have for citizen journalists, bloggers or anyone who wants to share their thoughts with the world.
For more information about ShoZu go to their WEBSITE or check out the Apps store on your iphone.
Jonn over at This Ain’t Hell makes a salient point of the hypocrisy of the left and their anti-war dogma. Four Americans were killed in this new front in the war on terror:
Rabbi Gavriel N. Holtzberg
Jonn nails it with these observations:
Four peaceful people murdered purely for the shock value – no military goals, no tactical advantage. Just mass murder – and the 200 known dead weren’t enough. The only terrorist captured alive claims they were going for 5,000 dead Does anyone think that ANSWER or World Can’t Wait or Not In Our Name are going to protest the people who sent the ten chimps out to kill innocent people? Not on your life. A few days ago, I got to listen to the same types defending Bill Ayers’ domestic terrorist activities as a logical result of American foreign policy. They damn sure aren’t going to condemn foreign terrorists.
Locally, will the Sheepdogs be treated to ghoulish displays in memory of these victims of islamic terrorists by the Chester County Prison Movement. Somehow, I think not. Will the CCPM protest against who organized this butchery? Will they protest against America? You betcha.
Operator: Transition hotline, can I help you?
Caller: Uh, yeah, I’ve been reading about the transition . . .
O: Yes, sir, only seven more weeks until The One takes the oath!
C: Yeah, really looking forward to it. But I wanted to double-check something.
O: Ask away, sir. We have answers you can believe in.
C: I’ve been reading about some of the people who are going to help Barack Obama change Washington . . .
O: The One.
C: The who?
O: The One. We don’t say Obama. We say The One. We want all Americans to say it, in the spirit of national unity.
C: The One.
O: You’ve got it. Please tell your friends.
C: You betcha.
O: Oh, now, we don’t say that.
C: Say what?
O: That expression you just used. I can’t repeat it. This call is being monitored. But we’re discouraging its use. We hope to have it officially banned next year, but for now it’s just a request.
C: You mean, you betcha?
However, two items have caught my attention as perfect O-Christmas gifts:
LOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) _ The Christmas ornaments for sale at the Miller Park Zoo’s gift shop are partly manufactured by reindeer. Honest!
Staffers make decorations out of droppings from the zoo’s two reindeer, Ealu and Rika. The droppings are dried, then clear-coated and either painted or rolled in glitter.
Zoo marketing director Susie Ohley has named the products “magical reindeer gem ornaments,” and each comes with a label of authenticity. They cost $5 at the zoo gift shop.
A Planned Parenthood Gift Certificate
“Why not buy a loved one a gift this holiday season that they really need,” Cockrum says in a press release LifeNews.com obtained. “The gift certificates are also a wonderful idea for that person in your life who puts everyone else first.”
“Please join Planned Parenthood of Indiana and give the gift of health this holiday season,” she adds.
According to Chrystal Struben-Hall, PPIN’s vice president, buyers of gift certificates can give the gift of death, too.
She confirmed to WISH-TV that they can be used for abortions, even though that’s not the intended purpose.
“They really are intended for preventative healthcare. We decided not to put restrictions on the gift certificates so it’s for whatever people feel they need the services for most,” she said.
Tis the season to be jolly, and I predict a sparkling Christmas at chez Skye!
This Ain’t Hell has (nearly) live coverage of the attacks in India
Fausta has the Russians cornered.
In the troublesome years ahead, what we are thankful for today will be the rock that supports us in the coming storms.
I am thankful for the opportunity this year to welcome my niece, Ava Grace, into the family. She is a gift and I look forward to watching her grow and blossom into a beautiful and intelligent woman – just like her Auntie.
I am grateful for the opportunity to provide a forever home for McCain (Buster) and Abby. He fits into the family as if he has always been a part of it. I’m thankful for the 14 years Peaches shared with us before crossing the Bridge this past summer.
It has been a honor to work with and befriend the members of the Sheepdog family. I’m constantly inspired by the noble character, pure talent and joyfulness of this band of patriots. These remarkable Americans have been the perfect foil in exposing the crass hypocrisy of the Chester County Prison Movement (CCPM). Letting the Sheepdogs into my life has made me a better person.
THANK YOU GOV. SARAH PALIN! She is the epitome of grace, a leader and a role model for real women worldwide. Thank you for exposing the misogynists masquerading as feminists. I look forward to watching you grow into a political powerhouse that will shatter that glass ceiling and bring a real feminist to the White House.
Thank You Michael Steele for stepping up to the plate and running for the vacant RNC Chairman seat – it has been vacant for years!
I’ve had remarkable blogging opportunities in 2008 that seemed almost unattainable for a chick blogger from Philly. CPAC, PLC and the RNC Convention in St. Paul offered me the chance to meet and befriend some truly talented bloggers while I gained in depth knowledge of the political landscape. Even more remarkable is the fact that I managed to cover all these events without tax payer support, unlike the mayor of my city. I am still pleased to be selected as a member of the Flopping Aces Posse and a contributor to Right Wing News.
I am thankful to all my blogging/media buddies, old and new. You are a constant source of inspiration and knowledge for me. Same goes to the fabulous commentators on this blog!
The more I reflect on this, the more grateful I am for living in America and taking full advantage of the opportunities that have come my way this year.
“Another problem is that conservative bloggers are there to provide you with their opinion. The new pillars of left-wing media are there to provide you with information, such as that on the U.S. attorney firings. Recognizing that page A1 of any newspaper usually trumps the op-ed page in setting the agenda, these outlets have fashioned themselves as dispensers of information — information usually helpful to the Left and its candidates.
This is because TPM, ThinkProgress, and the Huffington Post are all full-time operations employing reporters, whereas conservative blogs usually run the work of amateur or part-time writers. When conservative bloggers are full-time, they are generally commentators and not reporters.
It goes without saying that Republicans’ problems go far beyond their use — or relative non-use — of technology. The netroots and the Obama campaign succeeded primarily because the Internet is a medium tailor-made for insurgents. But now that Republicans are on the outs at all levels of government, they will need the Internet as a tool of opposition. Failure to grab hold of it could signal a long, long winter to come.”
This blog will always be a work in progress, adopting new technology as it emerges onto the internet scene and will always be ready to lead the tech charge of a conservative ‘insurgency’.
NEW YORK (AP) — Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity is losing his liberal half. Alan Colmes of the network’s “Hannity & Colmes” said Monday that he’ll be leaving the prime-time show after 12 years. He’ll continue as a commentator on Fox programs, keep doing his radio show and is developing a weekend show at Fox.
“We have a Democratic House, Senate and president,” Colmes said in an interview. “My work is done.”
My work is just beginning, Alan. When Sarah is President, I’m sure you’ll be begging to get back with Hannity.
Pictured above is my good self standing next to Alan Colmes and blogger emeritus Marathon Pundit. He was not pleased to find that a (former) democrat and a Chicago native were not mesmerized by the Manchurian Candidate.
