Update on Obama’s Bracelet-Gate

Newsbusters has reported that the father of Sgt. Ryan David Jopek had requested Obama to stop wearing his son’s KIA bracelet.

Barack Obama played the “me too” game during the Friday debates on September 26 after Senator John McCain mentioned that he was wearing a bracelet with the name of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, a resident of New Hampshire and a soldier that lost his life in Iraq in 2006. Obama said that he too had a bracelet. After fumbling and straining to remember the name, he revealed that his had the name of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek of Merrill, Wisconsin.

Shockingly, however, Madison resident Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek, the young soldier who tragically lost his life to a roadside bomb in 2006, recently said on a Wisconsin Public Radio show that his family had asked Barack Obama to stop wearing the bracelet with his son’s name on it. Yet Obama continues to do so despite the wishes of the family.

I am deeply disturbed by this. Although this is not a new occurrence, the families of dead soldiers have had their request for their deceased loved ones names to be removed from anti war exhibits coldly denied:

This kind of abuse of the fallen is typical on the left. The VFP, puppetmasters of the IVAW, now have a “suggestion” for their chapters that do displays the include names of the fallen, but it’s ONLY a “suggestion”.

VFP’s Lane Anderson told Debra Argel he wouldn’t her son’s name down because “families don’t get to make that call.”

Gary Qualls had to go to “Camp Crazy” outside Bush’s Ranch multiple times before they stopped using his son Lawrence’s name.

Marq (last name escapes me) who ran the American Friends Service Committee’s “Eyes Wide Open” campaign they wouldn’t “honor the request” of the families. Which is all you need to know about the AFSC’s claim to “honor” the fallen.

Due to the really bad publicity involved, these groups now have some window dressing purely to improve THEIR IMAGE.

There’s a woman in South Jersey who has the name on her car. It received publicity in the Inquirer, which led to stories on all the major Philly TV stations.

The woman maitained to reportes that it was a “memorial” not a protest, yet the evidence says otherwise. That was relayed to two Gold Star families for the story.

The evidence is this, that car with the names was the centerpiece of a protest against the war well before the “story”. It’s owner is a brazen liar and if there is a God will go straight to Hell for such lies.

Another terrible abuse bu AFSC, for a contribution, you get a piece of paper, where you can write anything and put it on any pair of booths you choose.

Whether that person would agree, whether that person’s family would agree.

The AFSC are grave robbing ghouls that wring blood money from fallen Soldiers.

Anti-military extremists who wear KIA bracelets or MIA bracelets need to take them off and give them to someone who’ll wear them with pride and to HONOR the name on that bracelet! If you can’t, or won’t, honor their sacrifice, then TAKE IT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m equally disgusted that obomba had to think about who’s name was on the bracelet he wears!!!! if he didn’t know the name off the top is his head; THAT BOTHERS ME!!!!

I wear a MIA bracelet myself, Army SFC Deverton C Cochrane, MIA in Cambodia 17 June 1970. Panel 9W, Line 59 on The Wall!

I do not believe you have to be pro-war to wear a bracelet. I think the act in and of itself is an honoring of that individual for their sacrifice.

        I’m sure he is, Virginia.

At the least, if you wear the bracelet – know the name inscribed on it.

Those who are ‘pro war’ as you say, are those seeking avenues that prolong war through false peace.

Those who support the troops and their mission hate war, yet understand its role in lasting peace.

Please DO NOT confuse the two groups.

The dead have always been used as political props precisely because it invokes such a visceral reaction from people.

However, the ghouls on the left and the ghouls on the right manufacture friction when the “wrong side” uses the dead for their purposes.

I’ve yet to see a group on the ‘right’ place boots with the names of dead soldiers on public display, then again, I’ve never seen an anti-war group (left) stage a welcome home for returning soldiers..
