Happy Birthday NASA! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for posting the Birthday card for NASA! My dad worked for NASA at KSC for 28 years. I grew up in Titusville and Winter Park, so the first launch I saw in person was the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. I have fond memories of watching launches from the causeway on NASA property, or just stepping out into our backyard and watching a night launch light up the sky like a second sunrise.
A few weeks later I’d be awaken from bed by the thunderous twin explosions of sonic booms as the Shuttle flew over the house at 120,000 feet on it’s way back home to a perfect landing at the Cape.
I recommend anyone get down to Florida before they retire the shuttle to witness one of these miraculous events where 2 million parts come together as 1 and ride a column of fire and sound into space. No words or photos or video really do it justice.
Go for Launch!
Andy
